Monday Sunshine

Don't let a mad world tell you - E. Tolle

This is something I am trying REALLY hard to remember at the moment.  When things aren’t going to plan, and your or your situation aren’t meeting expectations, it is important to remember that our societal notions of “success” are often arbitrary, temporary and don’t give the deep nourishment to our soul that they seem to promise.

It is so easy to feel like you are failing in one (or every!) area of your life when we try to get our lives to meet every criteria of the established societal narrative (academic grades, career path, pay grade, house size, the best clothes, travel, relationship status etc).  We want our lives to tick all the boxes, look and feel “perfect”, and always Instagram-worthy.

But, when you think about it, what is more successful than really, truly embracing, feeling and living each moment (or as many moments as you can) of your precious, fleeting existence? Than being truly present?

Right now, my life is certainly not going how I expected it would and it is very easy to feel like a failure, with all the despondency that brings.  I think it is OK to have plans for the future, but you have to remember that the current moment is really the only thing you have, and you have to make a commitment to yourself to be present, grounded and accepting of the moment – whatever shape that moment happens to take – exactly as it is.

I hope you all have a wonderful week, and remember there is so much more to life!

XoXo

  1. Failure, as far as you are concerned, shouldn’t even be considered! Your latest photo showing you bathed in a magnificent golden light, says it all! A girl of such immense talents will always succeed. It may take a little longer than you would like, but you will get there, just enjoy each precious moment along the way. Your words of wisdom help and inspire others – that in itself is worth it’s weight in gold! X
