Photography is a hobby of mine, and one that I find really rewarding and fulfilling. I am always spotting something beautiful to take a photograph of because my mind is always consciously engaged with nature. They use the phrase “rose-tinted glasses” to describe an overly nostalgic view of the past, but actually I think it adequately describes my day-to-day life because I am constantly awed by the beauty of the natural world, even in places you wouldn’t think to look. Perhaps I have rose-tinted eyes!
For instance, last week I put an old bouquet of roses on the garden as the petals were withered, browning and drooping. I was going to put them in the garden waste bin but it was raining, so I quickly put them in a bucket outside the back door. When I went out later, I did a double-take at that old, spoiled bunch of roses. Yes, the flowers were dying, but at the hearts of a couple of them they were still vibrantly pink and beautiful. Of course, I had to take a photograph, which turned out more beautiful than I expected.
The picture I have included here has not been retouched or filtered: this is the pure, exquisite beauty of nature, the kind that can be found anywhere if you have eyes to see.
You won’t find ANYTHING more beautiful than what nature and the universe provides us with. Please, don’t take it for granted.
“Next time a sunrise steals your breath or a meadow of flowers leaves you speechless, remain that way. Say nothing and listen as heaven whispers: ‘Do you like it? I did it just for you.’ ” – Max Ludaco
Happy Monday! Go out and smell the flowers of spring!
